Technical Time out

At the moment I am having to take an enforced time out due to having Viral Positional Vertigo. This seems to have been a new one on most people who have spoken to me. However, it is as simple as it sounds. I have a virus that is affecting my balance and making it feel like I have vertigo.

Fortunately I am now able to sit up and write a few words. Currently I am still working on PHd applications and chasing up photos from my Graduation Ball. My only real concern is that the virus I have could last up to a month. If that is the case, then there is the possibility of it affecting my Graduation Ceremony. However, at the current rate of progress that should not happen.

I have plenty of books on my shelf that need reading, plus I have enough Hindi language learning material to sort out any loose ends. This could be a very productive summer - if only my medication keeps working!

The Next Step

Since handing in my dissertation, I have been cracking on with Phd applications and doing a little bit of bar work back in York. Unfortunately it seems that my body would have appreciated a bit of a rest!

After attending a psychology leavers party, I immediately went back to work. The top priority has been preparing my Phd application to The University of Brunel, where Dr. Fernand Gobet works. He is the man who co-wrote the key paper that my dissertation was based on and is also the Director of the National Centre of Expertise.

I wish to continue my resarch into expertise, focussing particularly on memory, hence why I am planning very carefully for the 'dream' Phd. Other postgraduate courses are also being looked into and so far one at Lancaster University has also caught my eye.

However, all the travelling between York (for work) and Leeds has been taking it's toll and I am in dire need of a rest. I just about managed to keep myself in one working piece for my Graduation Ball and since then I have simply crashed out.

As a result I have had, to my dismay, to miss a few social functions that I would really like to have gone to. I just hope that there are enough still planned for the future so that I can make up for it.
